The Hotel

Seven floors above the Red Sea, built for people who would rather arrive than be announced.

Since first opening its doors in 2014, ORYX has stood apart in Aqaba — a considered design and a set of social spaces that draw guests and the city alike. 183 rooms and six business suites, arranged around sunroom city, sea and pool views.

No ceremony for its own sake. A calm lobby, four places to eat, a spa, and a front desk that already knows why you came.

Dining

Four rooms, one address.

Open to guests and to Aqaba, from first coffee to the last table of the evening.

The Oryx

The stray of every traveller.

Jordan's national animal, native to Wadi Rum, Aqaba and Petra, long sung by Arab poets. A white creature with wide black eyes that carries the story of a time and a place.

From the olive groves of the north, through the mosaic colours of the centre, to the pride of the south and its mountains — this hotel sets out to hold all of it in one building.

"A clever design and social spaces that draw guests and locals alike."
Occasions

Room for the occasion.

A business centre and a dedicated weddings venue, with the spa, pool and fitness floor on site.

Live-site audit — oryx-hotel.com

Verified directly against the live site. Ordered by severity.
01
201 hidden gambling links injected site-wide Critical

The homepage carries 201 outbound links to casino and betting sites — LV BET, Wazamba, Betcris, LibraBet, Superbet and others across .pl / .hu / .es / .it / .de. They sit in <span><p><a> blocks placed at top: -9999px: invisible to guests, fully crawlable by Google. A textbook WordPress SEO-spam compromise, present on every page including the 404. It puts the domain at direct risk of a Google manual action, and a five-star hotel is currently link-farming for offshore casinos.

02
The booking journey cannot take a booking Critical

"Reservations" opens no booking engine — it jumps to a rooms grid. Submitting the availability form lands on /index.php/hotel-search/ and returns no rooms, no availability, no prices. No rate appears anywhere on the site. Every direct booker is sent to a dead end, and from there to the OTAs at 15-25% commission.

03
No Arabic version at all High

lang="en-US" only. No Arabic, no switcher, no hreflang. For a hotel in Aqaba serving Jordanian, Gulf and regional guests, the whole Arabic search market is unaddressed.

04
6.2 MB homepage, 5.2 s load, 177 requests High

3.5 MB of it is CSS alone, across 41 stylesheets and 72 scripts. 47 images, zero WebP or AVIF, only one lazy-loaded, single heroes up to 726 KB. On an Aqaba mobile connection this is where booking intent dies.

05
The site is not in the brand's colours Medium

The ORYX logo is burgundy #931A1F and sand #D6B17C. The site runs on navy #2C3F58 and orange #EE5135 — inherited theme defaults, used 1,684 and 472 times. The identity is fighting its own website. This concept hands the palette back to the logo.

06
Broken links and typos in the main navigation Medium

The nav reads "Dinning Experience"; the footer "Trems and Condtion"; Careers is a hard 404; the spa sits at /fintness-n-spa1/; every URL exposes /index.php/. The meta description is scraped interface text beginning "Scroll Check in Check out Person Adults Kids Clear Apply".

07
Content frozen since 2021 Medium

Every dining and facilities entry is date-stamped January 2021 and published as a blog post rather than a venue page. The footer still reads © 2023. Nothing on the site signals an operating hotel.

What the revamp delivers

A clean rebuild off the compromised install · a real booking engine with live rates and a direct-booking advantage · full Arabic and RTL as a first-class version, not a plugin · sub-1 MB pages on WebP · the actual burgundy-and-sand identity · proper room and venue pages with schema markup · clean URLs with no index.php · analytics measured on bookings, not pageviews.
